Honey Grove, Texas -- J. Frank Dobie Library Trust Awards are monetary awards given each spring to library applicants selected by the Award Committee. According to the terms of the Trust, funds awarded may be used solely for the purchase of books. James Frank Dobie was an American folklorist, writer, and newspaper columnist best known for many books depicting the richness and traditions of life in rural Texas during the days of the open range.

At the Texas Library Association Opening Author Luncheon, Mr. James Stewart presented five small, rural Texas libraries a check in the amount of $10,000 each. Bertha Voyer Memorial Library, Honey Grove was among this year’s recipients.   The library plans to purchase Accelerated Reader, Bluebonnet and other Award books, add to its Family Place library, Next Chapter Book Club, a Book Club in a Bag program as well as add to our STEM collection.

The J. Frank Dobie Award allows for book purchases in print, audio or ebook formats.
