Honey Grove, Texas -- Funeral services for John Dee "J.D." Sivley, 79, of Windom, Texas will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Windom Baptist Church. Rev. Dave Cash and Rev. Judd Strawbridge will officiate. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove, Texas.

J.D. passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, TX surrounded by family.

John Dee Sivley was born in Honey Grove, TX on February 1, 1938 to William Donald and Audie Mae (Snellen) Sivley. He married Delores Diane (Tarter) Sivley on August 25, 1956 in Honey Grove, TX. J.D. was the manager of the power plant for the City of Garland, TX for 34 years. He was a Master Mason; he coached the Daugherty Hornets Pee wee Football Team in Garland. J.D. loved to pick and sing with his picker friends, and he was a member of Windom Baptist Church.

He is survived by wife of 60 years, Diane Sivley of the home, daughters, Bekkie Cobb and husband Donny of Windom, TX; Sherrie Jones of Dallas, TX; Kay Hendricks and husband Donnie of Garland, TX; and Tracey Hill and husband Johnny of Mesquite, TX; grandchildren, Kiley and Laura Cobb of White Oak, TX; Cassie and Gabe Miller of Little Elm, TX; Brandy and Patrick Bookey of Anchorage, AK, Ashlea and Clay Cain of Royse City, TX, Amy Hendricks of Carrollton, TX, Amanda Hendricks of Carrollton, TX, Shayna and Teddy Hagen of Mesquite, TX and Minda and Michael Wheeler of Dallas, TX.  Great grandchildren, Zachary Cobb, Colton Cobb, Kirkland Cobb, Shayne Allen, Amilya Allen, Dawson Bookey, Hailey Cain, Caden Hendricks, Kaylee McManus, Raelan George; sister, Wanda Jo and Jerry Robertson of Eustace, TX; brother, Charles and Patsy Sivley of Greenville, TX; and brother-in-law, Larry Tarter and Anna B Saulters and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Saundra, step-dad, Edward Marshall Bailey “Bay”.  J. D. also missed his beloved pets Missy, Sassy and Socks.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Genovesi, Larry Tarter, Donnie Hendricks, Johnny Hill, Donny Cobb, and Kiley Cobb. Honorary pallbearers City of Garland Power Plant Employees.

Family visitation will be on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel Honey Grove, Texas from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
