Van Alstyne, Texas -- Glenn Adelbert Akers returned to his heavenly home on September 6, 2017 after a valiant battle with a long illness.  His devotion to his family and his firm belief in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. He was a member of Elmont Baptist Church of Van Alstyne and served as an Elder.  He was kind and soft-spoken and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small.  He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

Glenn was born to the late Perry and Nora Akers on November 20, 1948 in Monroe County Michigan.  He married Charlotte Ann Enloe on August 23, 1980, in Arlington, Texas.  He is survived by his wife, Charlotte and sons Brian, Mark (Cathy), Jeff (Wendy) and Chad (Ashley); his grandchildren Justin, Curtis, Nathan, Andrew, Ali, Taylor, Angel, Colton, Cooper, Kate, Cole, Camryn, Blake and several great-grandchildren.  Sister: Carol (Walter) Hundley and two brothers James (Cheryl) and Lawrence and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15 at Elmont Baptist Church in Van Alstyne, Texas.  Funeral will be Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Elmont Baptist Church, 13999 FM 121, Van Alstyne, TX. Burial will follow in the Van Alstyne Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, 637 W. Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne, Texas. 903-482-5225.
