Bonham -- Since its dedication in April of 2017, the Blessing Box on the First Presbyterian Church parking lot near 9th and Center Streets has provided countless nonperishable food items, toiletries, and other essentials for those in need.  The Blessing Box is intended to supplement the local agencies that work to meet the needs of the hungry on a regular basis, and is available 24/7 to all.   During the colder weather, when households are spending more of their family budgets on heating costs so soon after the holidays, there is increased need.

“The Blessing Box works best when it is filled randomly by individuals from the community,”  said Cindy Godbey, FPC Mission Committee Chair.   The central location of the box makes it easy for anyone to donate items at their convenience.  If you are looking for a simple way to make a difference in 2018, consider picking up a few items for the Blessing Box on your next visit to the store and drop them off on your way home.  A toothbrush, a roll of toilet paper, a can of tuna, a box of macaroni and cheese – small things can be a big blessing."
