Howe, Texas -- Sydney "Syd" Carlton Violett passed away on January 3, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones and the staff of Meadowbrook Care Center in Van Alstyne, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William Horace “Tex” Violett and Gertrude Mildred “Gertie” Hill Violett and his brothers Wendell Richard Violett, Francis Eugene Violett and William Horace Violett.

Syd is survived by his wife, Mary Elaine Burks Violett of 53 years, two children Charles William Violett and Samuel Dale Violett, 3 grandchildren Ashley Christine Violett Smith, Zachary Cole Winter Violett and Hailey Marie Violett, and two great-grandchildren Lyla Danielle Smith and Coraline Elaine Smith and his always faithful dog Bailey.

Syd was drafted into the Korean War and served in the Army for 3 years and played baseball for the Army.  He then went to play for Collins Radio which was a corporate team at that time in Dallas, Texas.

Syd was an Electrician by trade and he loved to work on woodworking and he was always tinkering on items around the house.

A small memorial will be held in Wylie for family and friends.
