McKinney, Texas – The City of McKinney is pleased to announce Empress Drane as the new City Secretary. Drane begins July 2.

Drane has been with the city’s Parks and Recreation Department since 2005. She began working as a Recreation Specialist and was quickly promoted to Recreation Supervisor after just two years. She currently oversees the daily operations of Old Settler's Recreation Center.

“Empress has played a vital role in our Parks and Recreation Department for more than 12 years. She embodies our core values of respect, integrity, service and excellence, and I am grateful she remains dedicated to the city by taking on this challenging role,” said City Manager Paul Grimes. “We have an excellent pool of talented employees at the City of McKinney. We always prefer to hire from within when the opportunity arises.”

Drane holds a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship and strategic management from the University of North Texas in Denton. She fills the City Secretary position left vacant by Sandy Hart who will retire at the end of July after serving the city for 13 years.
