Bonham, Texas -- John William Winn, 93, of Mulberry, Texas went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2019.

“Poppa” as he was known to everyone was a loving husband, father, and great grandfather.

He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a master mason, Shriner and a retired master plumber. During this time he worked for and became a personal friend of Mr. Sam Rayburn. Poppa was born on December 11, 1925 to Grover and Eva (Turner) Winn of Ladonia, TX.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary Louise (Pharr) Winn of Mulberry, TX; his daughter, Donna Pelfrey and husband Robert of Mulberry, TX; grandchildren, Christy Bond and husband Gary of Mulberry, TX and John Browning of Ravenna, TX; great-grandchildren, Celsey and Willie Haight of McKinney, TX; Jon Bond of Bonham, TX and Amber Browning of Ravenna, TX. He is preceded in death by his great grandchild Jordan Christopher Bond son of Christy and Gary Bond.
