District 10-3A UIL Academic/Speech results

Academic and speech teams from Leonard High School racked up over 257 points Saturday at the District 10-3A Academics/Speech Championships in Blue Ridge. Fifteen students punched their tickets to the Class 3A Region II Championships with medal-winning top three performances, and another seven earned an alternate spot with their fourth-place finishes.

2nd - Thomas Gomez, Computer Apps
2nd - Lora Wargo, Lincoln-Douglas Debate
3rd  - Olivia McAdams, Editorial Writing
3rd -  Lauren Newman, Informative Speaking
3rd - Audrey Shaw, Lincoln-Douglas Debate

In addition to the 10 points created by the Current Issues and Events team champion, other team points included the Speech team, first place, 10 points; Literary Criticism team, second place, five points; and last month's One-Act Play, 14 points for a fifth-place tie.
