Bonham City Council canvasses May 4 election results

Bonham, Texas -- Fresh off election victories on May 4, 2019, Bonham City Councilmembers Bill Chapman (left) and H. Following the recital of the oath of office, H. Compton was a unanimous choice to serve as mayor pro tem.

Bonham City Council canvassed results of the City of Bonham election May 4. Out of 3,985 registered voters, 444 (11.14%) voted in this election.

There were 337 early votes cast in person, three early votes were cast by mail and 104 votes were cast May 4 on Election Day.

In Ward 2, challenger Timothy La Vergne, II received 273 votes and incumbent John E. Trubey received 156 votes.

In Ward 3, incumbent H. Compton received 318 votes and challenger Bill Carey received 99 votes.

In Ward 4, challenger Bill Chapman received 233 votes and incumbent Jerry Gay received 185 votes.
