PWCs are more popular than ever at the Dallas Summer Boat Expo from July 18-21, 2019

Dallas, Texas -- As North Texas lakes swing into full gear for summer 2019, more and more personal watercraft are being used for family fun, tubing, fishing and emergency search and rescue. Modern designs and portability are only part of what is making PWC one of the marine industry’s fastest growing segments.

Bron Beal, Executive Director of the Dallas Boat Expo, anchoring at Dallas Market Hall in July, says, “Year over year, we have seen increased interest in PWCs from all types of consumers, especially for those in their 30s and 40s. It’s a great way to ‘dip your toe’ into the boating life.”

With a lower price point than big boats coupled with the advances in technology, reduced emissions and reduced sound, the economic impact is clear. With growing diversity in units and a range of price points, PWC sales continue to climb year over year. There are 1.1 million PWC registered in the United States, which have generated $662 million for the US economy; in 2016 PWC sales rose 7.3% making this one of the industry’s fastest growing market.

According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association, the technology in PWC meet strict national park environmental assessment standards. New engine management technology allows users to fine-tune engine speed, creating a safe and fuel-efficient experience for all riders.

Additionally, PWC have reduced emission levels by 90% since 1996; PWC are among the cleanest and most environmentally friendly boats on the water. PWC are also 70% quieter than 10 years ago, and use the latest in sound-dampening technology, including state-of-the-art intake/exhaust systems, active noise-canceling devices, and more.

Growth in the PWC market is a result of many different factors, one of which being the variety of products in the current market. Beal says, “From Seas-Doos to Yamaha WaveRunners to Kawasaki Jetskis, there is a lot of great product out there when it comes to personal watercraft. Price, performance and technology varies with each one. At the Dallas Summer Boat Expo, we are lucky enough to have hundreds of models on display, as well as the most knowledgeable dealers on hand to ask questions about of the available brands.”
