Texas Department of State Health Services COVID-19 report

Austin, Texas -- The State of Texas reported 10,158 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 130 deaths related to the novel coronavirus in Saturday's daily data release by Texas Department of State Health Services.

It was the fifth-consecutive day that Texas topped the 10,000 mark in new cases and the fourth consecutive day with more than 100 deaths.

Hospitalizations of lab-confirmed COVID-19 patients in Texas climbed to a record 10,658 on Saturday.

In South Texas on Saturday, Harris County was notified of 1,586 new cases and 18 fatalities related to COVID-19.

In North Texas, Dallas County had 1,195 newly confirmed cases and 13 fatalities.

Denton County reported a single-day record of 160 newly confirmed cases, Collin County was notified of 75 new cases, and Hunt County had 24 new cases.

Texas has reported a total of 317,730 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with an estimated 169,581 recoveries and 3,865 fatalities related to the novel coronavirus.

The state has an estimated 144,284 active cases.

The seven-day positivity rate dropped from an all-time high of 17.43% as of Thursday to 16.05% as of Friday. The goal is to keep the positivity rate at or below 6% and Texas Governor Greg Abbot has stated that a positivity rate above 10% raises red flags.

Texas has 10,831 available hospital beds and 966 available ICU beds.
