Honey Grove, Texas -- Robert Allen Ball, 74, of Honey Grove, Texas passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Brentwood Terrace in Paris, Texas following a brief illness.  Robert was born on July 30, 1948, in Bonham, Texas to Leonard F. Ball and Dorothy Loyd (Moore) Ball.

He spent nearly four years in the United States Navy where he was stationed in Scotland.  He was honorably discharged on February 11, 1970.  He had several jobs before he started his career in the funeral business.

Robert was hired by Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas in 1971 where he met the love of his life.  He married Delaine Sorrells (Ball) on January 14, 1972, at which time Robert attended Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science and became a licensed Funeral Director/Mortician.  He later became the manager of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Honey Grove, Texas.  After forty years, he retired in 2014.

Robert and Delaine were blessed with three children.  They had a daughter, Dava Elaine Ball, that passed away in 1975.  After Davaís death, they were blessed with two sons, Travis, and Landon Ball.  He loved to watch his kids and grandkids play sports, and never missed a game or practice.

Robert is survived by his wife of fifty years, Delaine, two sons, Travis Ball and wife Amy of Paris, Texas, and Landon Ball of Honey Grove, Texas. Three grandchildren, Kaleb, Kelsea, and Kennedi Ball of Paris, Texas, that adored their Pop. One brother, Gene Ball of Highland Village, Texas and one sister, Debbie Bush and husband, Danny, of Ector, Texas.  Several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Dorothy Ball, daughter, Dava Elaine Ball, brothers, Larry Ball and Max Ball, and one sister-in-law, Sandi Ball.

There will be a memorial service for Robert on Thursday, September 29th at the Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Honey Grove, Texas at 2:00.  Brother Ronnie Ball, Brother Terry Paul Cunningham, and Mr. Nolan Butler will officiate.  The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the chapel.
