Denison, Texas -- Saturday, November 18, 2023 was sunny and 70 degrees, a perfect day to enjoy a jazz concert in the park, watch a chalk artist at work, take a carriage ride through a historic downtown, or maybe even do a little Christmas shopping with local vendors.

If you happened to be in downtown Denison, you could do all four. Denison hosted the Arts & Jazz Fest 2023 on Saturday and Mother Nature must be a fan of the arts and music because she graced the event with a perfect autumn day.

While bands rotated on and off the stage in Heritage Park, jazz aficionados could shop with local vendors, take a carriage tour of downtown Denison, or watch chalk artists bring an image on the sidewalk to life.

Just down the street, another group of music fans were enjoying another group of bands performing on the Ivanhoe Ale Works stage.

The bands at Heritage Park included Scott Middle School Jazz Band, Sherman High School Jazz Band, Revelers Hall, Bishop Avenue Hot SIX, Mulliganís Revenge and Pants on Fire wrapped up the afternoon performances at 5:00 p.m.

The entertainment lasted into the night at Ivanhoe Ale Works, with the Patrick Overturf Quartet kicking things off just after noon, followed by Carlos Averhoff Jr & Together Afro-Cuban Quintet, The South African Heritage Ensemble and The Michael Peterson Quartet. At 8:00 p.m., the Bobby Falk Group took the stage to close out another memorable day in downtown Denison.
