Sherman, Texas -- Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced a temporary closure of the east- and westbound US 82 frontage roads will occur soon at US 75 in Sherman, Texas.

The eastbound US 82 frontage road at US 75 will be closed to thru traffic overnight beginning at 8 p.m. Feb. 26 and will remain closed until 6 a.m. Feb. 27.

The westbound US 82 frontage road at US 75 will close to thru traffic overnight beginning at 8 p.m. Feb. 29 and will remain closed until 6 a.m. March 1.

During these temporary, short-term closures motorists traveling east or west will need to make a right turn and follow designated detours. These closures will allow work crews to complete the concrete work for permanent pavement at this intersection.

While these closures are in effect, drivers should watch for road crews on the highway, expect some delays, and plan their commutes in advance. This construction and any temporary lane closures it creates are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, officials said.

Motorists who travel frequently in these areas are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
