Paris, Texas -- Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that a project to replace the Cottonwood Creek bridge at FM 274 in Fannin County is set to begin June 17. Message boards to alert travelers will be placed June 3.

Highway 19 Construction LLC, Sulphur Springs, Texas, will demolish the bridge currently over Cottonwood Creek, and build a new bridge and roadway approaches. This road closure for bridge replacement is expected to last about three months, officials said.

The roadway and bridge at this location will be closed while this work is underway. A signed detour will direct traffic during the closure to another route. Travelers are asked to pay special attention to signs and message boards while this construction is underway.

Motorists who travel frequently in these areas are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
