Bonham, Texas -- Ila Laverne (Feagans) Elk was born February 2, 1935, to C.P. and Ila Lea Feagans, in Savoy, TX.  Ila went home to The Lord on June 3, 2024 in Bonham, TX.

A Celebration of Life service for Ila will be held Friday, June 7, 2024, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham, TX, beginning at 2:00 pm. Mr. Charles Wrenn will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Savoy, TX. The family will hold a visitation Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

Pallbearers are grandchildren, Dustin Elk, Mitzi Jones, Jared Elk, Derek Elk, Collin Elk, Carissa McCartney and Zachary McCartney.

Ila graduated from Savoy High School as Valedictorian of her class. Shortly after school she married the love of her life Harry Leonard Elk and the couple spent nearly 60 years together before Harry’s passing in 2013. She was a longtime member and Bible class teacher at the Savoy Church of Christ. Later in life she worshipped at the Northside Church of Christ in Bonham. Ila held many positions throughout her working years including JC Penney, Bonham Savings and Loan, and the Bonham State Bank. She was a dedicated Pink Lady volunteer at the Bonham Hospital, as well as serving as president of Bonham Business and Professional Women, and the Sunnyside Cemetery Board.

Ila is survived by sons, Daryl Elk and wife Rebecca of Bonham, TX, Charles Elk and wife Cindy of Sachse, TX, Steve Elk and wife Teri of Savoy, TX.; Grandsons, Dustin Elk and wife Lyla, Jared Elk and fiancé Morgan Baker, Derek Elk, Collin Elk and wife Hannah; Granddaughters, Mitzi Jones and husband Cody, and Carissa McCartney and husband Zachary; great-grandchildren, Sadie Jones, Sterling Jones, Phoebe Elk, sister-in-law Louise Elk, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents C.P. and Ila Feagans, husband Harry Elk, and infant son Larry Elk.
