Sherman, Texas -- Music and art fans of all ages are invited to the Sherman Public Library’s Jazz and Art Night on Monday, July 8 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. The event will feature a live performance by the Greater Texoma Jazz Ensemble and an art show by local painters and sculptors in the Sherman Art League.

The Greater Texoma Jazz Ensemble has been performing in the Texoma area for over 40 years, and is well-known for its lively jazz and big band sounds,
programming music ranging from classical swing to contemporary fusion. Directed by Austin College Emeritus Faculty member Dr. Ricky Duhaime, the group
consists of students, faculty, and community members from across Northeastern Texas and Southeastern Oklahoma.

Sherman Art League (SAL) is a non-profit arts organization in Grayson County established in 1961. The group is made up of artists from North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. The purpose of the SAL is to encourage artists, promote excellence and diversity in the arts, and to increase the awareness and appreciation of art in the community. This is done by holding workshops, lectures, and networking and learning from fellow artists. SAL hosts an annual juried art show and provides artwork to display at local businesses and in area gallery exhibitions.
