Sherman, Texas -- Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that a mainlane traffic switch is slated for July 1 and July 2 for the northbound US 75 mainlanes in Sherman, Texas.

This work is necessary to begin establishing the final traffic pattern on US 75 mainlanes from Washington Street north to Taylor Street, officials said.

These traffic switches will occur from 7:00 p.m to 5:00 a.m. on July 1 and July 2. During that time, northbound US 75 mainlane traffic will shift to the newly constructed permanent northbound lanes from Washington Street northward to near Taylor Street.

At the same time, southbound US 75 mainlanes from near Taylor Street to Washington Street will be shifted to align with the permanent southbound configuration, officials said.

During this operation, two lanes of travel will be provided for both northbound and southbound traffic. Meanwhile, crews will continue their work in this area to allow three mainlanes of travel in both directions at a future date.

Motorists who travel frequently in these areas are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
