McKinney, Texas -- The Red, White and BOOM! Independence Day celebration begins downtown with a lively hometown parade at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Yankee Doodle block party at 11:00 a.m. Families are encouraged to explore the many dining and shopping options the Historic Downtown Cultural District offers. View a parking map and other parking information

 

 

Festivities continue at Gabe Nesbitt Community Park with music, food, kids' activities, and a dazzling fireworks display. Live entertainment begins with a concert featuring The Rich Girls at 6:00 p.m., and Aura takes the stage at 8:00 p.m. Activities and parking are free and open to the public. Event map

 

Parking options

 

All parking is free and open to the public. At designated parking areas, attendants will guide vehicles to a parking spot. Please note that paved parking will be filled first, followed by grass lot parking near John & Judy Gay Library. 

Public parking is available at:

  • Apex Centre; Enter from Alma Road.
  • Gabe Nesbitt Community Park; Enter from Eldorado Parkway.
  • Wolford Elementary School; 6951 Berkshire Road.

Accessible parking is available within the park itself. To access the designated parking lot, please enter Gabe Nesbitt Community Park from the south entrance on Alma Road. Please note that you must show checkpoint staff a state-issued accessible parking placard or license plate to access the lot.
