Sherman, Texas – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that the eastbound US 82 frontage road at US 75 in Sherman, Texas, will temporarily close beginning at 8:00 p.m. July 18.

The US 82 eastbound frontage road will be reduced from two lanes to one lane for thru traffic but will reopen with two lanes of travel by 6:00 a.m. July 22.

At the same time, the northbound US 75 frontage road will be reduced to one thru lane and one right-turn lane beginning at 8:00 p.m. July 18, but will reopen by 6:00 a.m. July 22. During this temporary closure traffic will not be able to turn left from the eastbound US 82 frontage road at the northbound US 75 frontage road.

Those traveling east will have to proceed to Loy Lake Road and follow a signed detour to access US 75 north, officials said.

These temporary closures will allow contractor crews to complete construction of the new permanent travel lanes, officials said.

While these closures are in effect, drivers are asked to be aware of road crews on the highway, expect some delays, and plan their commutes in advance. This construction and any temporary closures it creates are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, officials said.

Motorists who travel frequently in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
