Fannin County, Texas -- The Fannin County Purchasing Board, after a diligent search, review of more than 50 resumes and conducting interviews, has selected and appointed Julie Criswell as Purchasing Agent for Fannin County. Ms. Criswell received her Oath of Office Monday, August 26, 2024 from Judge Laurine Blake, Chairman of the Purchasing Board. Also in attendance was Board Member, County Judge Newt Cunningham.

The Purchasing Board is comprised of any and all District Judges with jurisdiction in Fannin County and the Fannin County Judge.

The purchase order system was implemented April 9, 2007 by District Judges Jim Lovett and Laurine Blake. The function of the purchasing department is to ensure a
transparent system of purchases by County employees and Elected Officials in compliance with the law. This process requires that every purchase made begins with a
requisition or competitive bid. The Purchasing Agent is the only person who can purchase items, including service contracts, on behalf of Fannin County. The bid
process involves the Commissioners Court and Purchasing Agent working together to facilitate any purchases of goods or services above $50,000. The process is designed to assure that the County obtains goods and services at the lowest and best bid.

"It has been the goal of the Purchasing Board to set forth clear policies and procedures for county employees and elected officials so they are in compliance with the law when making any purchases. Purchasing Agent Criswell will provide the leadership and support for these individuals so they can perform the duties of their
respective offices. This extra layer of protection when expending tax payer dollars can require more time, but by planning ahead, minimal delay is involved," stated Judge Blake.
