Whitewright, Texas -- The Whitewright Lady Tigers defeated the Dodd City Lady Hornets in straight sets Friday night.

Whitewright had everything going right in a 25-1 victory in the opener. The next two sets were very competitive. Dodd City jumped out to a 12-6 lead in the second set before Whitewright went on a 7-1 run to tie the score, 13-13. Whitewright pulled away late for a 25-20 win.

A fast start in the third set gave Dodd City a 5-1 lead, but Whitewright's potent offense prevailed and led the Lady Tigers to a 25-21 victory.

Dodd City junior Addison Weeks knocked down 11 kills, Gracyn Shindler slammed down seven kills and Emma Garner put down a pair of kills.

Shindler had a team-high four aces, Weeks finished with three aces, Kenzi Freeman had two aces and Garner had one ace.

Freeman handed out six assists, Weeks had five assists, Shindler and Kayleigh McBrayer both dished out four assists and Ralyn Daniel had two assists.

Dodd City will host Sam Rayburn on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, and Whitewright will travel to Anna.
