Creative Arts Center Art Contest winners

Bonham, Texas – The Creative Arts Center hosted an opening night reception and awards ceremony for their annual community art contest on September 6.  Chele Wells and Tim Rainer of the Artrageous Art Hub in Sherman were the contest judges.
Best of Show for the Painting category was a watercolor painting entitled “Windom Before the Rain” by Tatiana Murray.  First place in the same category is “The Spill” painted in acrylics by Jennifer Owen. Rebecca Gholston took home second place ribbon for her oil painting called “Oregon Coast.”  Caroline Blackwell earned third place honors for her oil painting called “Seasons.”
Tatiana Murray won Best of Show for her watercolor painting “Windom Before the Rain.”
The other contest category included mixed media, 3D, drawings and photography.  Best of Show for this grouping went to Krystal Skinner for her mixed media artwork entitled “Girl Interrupted.”  First place honors were given to Laura Iwata for her 3D/mixed media piece entitled “Flower Power.”  Sherry Hockett earned second place honors for her drawing entitled “Psalm 37.”  Johnny Hibert took home a third place ribbon and prize money for his 3D art called “Layered Texas.”
Krystal Skinner won Best of Show for her mixed media piece called “Girl Interrupted.”
All artwork in the contest will be on display at the Creative Arts Center through the end of September and is available for viewing anytime the center is open.  Many of the pieces are also available for purchase.  The Creative Arts Center is located at 200 W. 5th in Bonham.
