Plano, Texas -- St. Andrew Methodist Church will add a new Sunday morning traditional service in the Hasley Chapel, beginning on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at 11 :00 a.m., increasing the number of St. Andrew services to five: three traditional and two contemporary services with in-person and online options. Additionally, the church has expanded its programming, from a new young adults’ ministry to The Second Act – a thriving and rapidly growing ministry for retirees – providing ways for all ages to connect and become involved.

“Our new traditional service along with expanded programming will help us serve our growing congregation with multiple, outstanding options for worship and ways for all ages to enjoy fellowship and find community,” said Rev. Arthur Jones, senior pastor, St. Andrew Methodist Church. “Establishing a Sunday morning traditional service in the Hasley Chapel was one of our goals following its construction, and it is exciting to see it become a reality.”

Opened in August 2023, the 300-seat Hasley Chapel was built in honor of St. Andrew’s late founding pastor Robert Hasley, who had long wished for a “chapel in the woods,” reminiscent of churches in his Arkansas hometown. The chapel, already home to St. Andrew’s Saturday evening traditional service, is unique for its panoramic views of lush trees and a creek below, which provide a peaceful setting surrounded by nature. Worshippers at the new Sunday morning service will also benefit from this scenic setting and closeness to nature while focusing on the church’s traditional roots, including liturgy and song with organ, hymns, and classical choral song from a vocal ensemble.

"As families head back to school and establish routines this fall, St. Andrew anticipates record numbers returning to church, and we are thrilled to be able to provide a new sacred and reverent worship experience, which will not only help us accommodate growth but also meet an increasing desire for more traditional worship," continued Rev. Jones. "It is no secret that we live in a complex and challenging society, where reality can often be hard to distinguish. Many, especially young families with children, are seeking the structure, stability, and comfort a traditional service can provide. This is a service that will help you root your family in the unchanging tradition and customs of the historical church in a timeless worship experience – one that will not only be rich in meaning but also soul-stirring. Join us."

Beginning September 22, the five St. Andrew services are: 5:30 p.m. traditional Saturday and 11 a.m. traditional Sunday, both in Hasley Chapel; 9:30 traditional Sunday and 11 a.m. contemporary Sunday, both in the sanctuary; and 9:30 contemporary Sunday in Smith Worship Center.

St. Andrew Methodist Church, founded in 1986, is located on 21.2 acres in Plano, Texas, and has more than 7,000 members. The church hosts over 2,000 people each weekend for worship services in both a traditional style with the classic pipe organ and a contemporary style with an LED center screen and lighting technology. St. Andrew extends an open invitation for all to be a part of a community ready to embrace faith in Christ that is real, practical, and life changing. Many opportunities are provided to gather on campus and serve locally, regionally, and globally. Through Invite Ministries, St. Andrew’s publishing house, and Beacon of Light, a mental health ministry, St. Andrew offers innovative ways to reach Christians within its congregation and out in the community. The new 300-seat Hasley Chapel provides worship and other gathering opportunities in a scenic and more intimate setting. In 2022 St. Andrew became an independent Methodist Church seeking to live more like Jesus every day and to learn in deeper ways what it means to follow His teachings, live in community, and serve the world. 5801 W.
