2024 Fall New Landowner Conference in Gunter Oct. 18

Gunter, Texas -- The 2024 Fall New Landowner Conference will be held in Gunter, TX on October 18, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The fee for the conference is $20 per person, and includes snacks, drinks, and lunch. The conference will be held at the Bella Terra Venue at 1384 Kerfoot Drive, Gunter, TX. The conference is sponsored by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Texoma Pond and Pest Management, and the Paine Insurance Group.
We will get in classroom and hands-on, pond-side learning at the conference which will focus on what you need to do this fall to prepare for an enjoyable and productive spring on your property. Information will benefit both new landowners and those who might have additional questions - even if they have owned land for some time. Additionally, 3 TDA Ag CEUs will be offered at the conference for participants with TDA Ag Pesticide Applicator Licenses (2 GEN, 1 IPM).
Topics will include:
- Special Valuations and Exemptions – including Ag, Wildlife, Bee Management Valuations, and Various Exemptions
- Tree Health – Common Tree Problems, Current Tree Disease Situations, and the Emerald Ash Borer updates (GEN)
- Pond Management, Pond Integrated Vegetation Management, and Plant/Algae ID (IPM)
- Pond Assessment and Pond-side Demonstrations (GEN)
Speakers will include Michael Elliott (Grayson Central Appraisal District), Mike Sills (Texas A&M Forest Service), Chad Cummings (Texas A&M AgriLife Extension – Grayson County), Zach Pritchard (Texoma Pond and Pest Management), and Tyson Keese (Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Rangeland, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management Unit).
