Greenville, Texas -- The 28th Annual Cotton & Rural History Conference will take place at the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum on Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Rebecca Sharpless who will be speaking about her book Grain & Fire: A History of Baking in the American South.
Sharpless is currently a professor at Texas Christian University. The historian’s panels will feature Meredith May of Kilgore College who will talk about the work being done on a film documenting the Longview Race Riot of 1919 and Chuck Baclawski of Collin College who will do a presentation on a rural Mormon Settlement in Upshur County. The program includes lunch and the registration fee is $15 per person.
