Young hero had taken the McKinney Fire Department’s babysitter class the day before the incident

McKinney, Texas (Nov 18, 2024) – The McKinney Fire Department invites you to attend as they honor a remarkable young hero, 12-year-old Auri Agramont. Auri attended the Fire Department's Babysitter Club class on Saturday, Nov. 2, and just one day later saved her younger sister from choking by applying the first-aid skills she learned in the course.

Auri told her mother, “I just remembered and acted very calmly.”

The Babysitter Club class is a comprehensive training program designed to equip young individuals with essential safety skills. MFD sponsors the class and teaches fire safety, baby and child CPR, and basic first aid. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-McKinney provides Stop the Bleed training while the McKinney Police Department teaches home security.

The free one-and-a-half-hour class aims to ensure young people gain confidence and capability as babysitters.
