McKinney, Texas -- Visit McKinney Executive Director Aaron Werner has been named to the Board of Directors of two Texas tourism organizations based on peer recommendations. Werner will serve on both the Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (TACVB) and the Texas Travel Alliance (TTA).
“I am deeply honored to serve on both the TACVB and TTA boards,” Werner said. “These roles provide an incredible opportunity to represent McKinney and contribute to the growth and sustainability of tourism across Texas.”
Travel and tourism are critical economic drivers for Texas, generating a $193 billion impact in 2023, according to the Texas Travel Alliance. Through these board appointments, Werner will support initiatives to assist member cities and hospitality organizations in fostering innovation and creating meaningful travel experiences.
Kathleen Davis, TACVB President, emphasized the importance of board members in driving the organization’s mission, saying, “Our board members are instrumental in empowering destinations to achieve success. We’re thrilled to welcome Aaron to the board; his impressive experience and strong character make him an outstanding addition, and we’re confident he’ll play a key role in advancing our mission.”
Visit McKinney, the city’s destination marketing organization, serves as the primary resource for tourists and residents exploring the unique experiences that make McKinney a memorable destination.
Werner joined Visit McKinney in 2022 after serving as Director of Leisure Services and Managing Director of Communications and Engagement in Denison, Texas. Before that, he held roles in McKinney, including Main Street Program Coordinator, and Marketing and Development for McKinney Performing Arts Center and McKinney Main Street. Werner also served as President of the Texas Downtown Association Board from 2020 to 2021.
“Being appointed to these boards is not just a personal milestone but a testament to McKinney’s thriving tourism landscape,” Werner said. “I look forward to sharing our successes while learning from others to further position our city and state as premier travel destinations.”
