A Smooth First Day

Fairview elementary school principal, DeAnn Jeffrey was well pleased on the first day of school as all went smoothly.  “Our staff is organized and experienced in preparing for the first day, she said and we are thankful that there were very few tears in the preschool and kindergarten rooms.  Everyone seemed excited to be here.”

PTA Supplies Supplies!

In an effort to help students have the exact school supplies needed by each teacher, Wakefield's PTA, puts together “Back To School Boxes.”  In the spring, the PTA members contact each teacher and ask what they request for next year’s school supplies.  The list is specific to the individual teacher so every class has a different list.  During the summer supplies are gathered, separated and the supply boxes are filled with all name brand products.  Supplies are ordered in bulk which keeps the cost is low.  Parents place their order in the spring and thus avoid the crowds and hassle of school supply shopping.  The boxes await the students when they arrive on the first day.  Project chairman, Suzanne Cross explained that this is not a fundraiser, but a way the Wakefield PTA is trying to meet the needs of the teacher and students.

Pre-School Program in Full Swing

The preschool program benefits many students throughout the district and is offered at every elementary school except Wakefield.  At four years old, these boys and girls are the youngest on their campus.

Shown here are happy and eager pre-school students at Perrin that have just finished a nutritious breakfast on their first day of school and are waiting for their teacher to take them to the classroom.
