Talk about raising the bar!
Last year Bonham had their first entry at the girls state powerlifting meet when Hannah Caylor placed 10th. This year Caylor has lifted the BHS powerlifting program to the national level by coming in second at the premier powerlifting event of the year. Pretty impressive for a sophomore with even more potential she is still developing.
Hannah lifted 365 pounds in the squat, bench-pressed 155 and put up 365 in the deadlift for a total of 885. That gave her second place in the state meet and also qualified Caylor for the High School Junior National Championships April 3 in Killeen, Texas.
Bonham's Ala Bray also qualified for state where her best squat was 260 pounds. Bray benched 125 pounds and recorded a deadlift of 230 pounds for a total of 615, good enough for 19th place at the state championships.
Caylor will be charting new territory for the BHS powerlifting program this weekend at nationals. All her friends will be cheering for her and waiting to hear what this latest remarkable accomplishment was like for the easy-going sophomore.
Hannah Caylor stands behind the second BHS girl powerlifter to qualify for state, Ala Bray.
