Gunter High School celebrates 17th annual Academic Banquet

Gunter High School celebrated the 17th annual Academic Banquet on Monday April 18 at 6:30 in the evening. Students invited to this banquet hold the top three academic spots from each of the four classes and the next top ten from the entire high school.

The students that were honored this year were Lisa Baylie, Melissa Logan, Tyler Lowing, Samantha Maddux, Meridith McConnell, and Andi Queen were from the freshman class.

GISD students from the sophomore class were Haley Heinrich, Taryn Melugin, and Shambry McGee.

Representatives from the junior Class were Lindsay Bardach, Amanda Caperton, Blake Foley, C. J. Hilliard and Sheaunna Moss.

The senior class honorees were Justin Burdine, Kyle Carrigan, John Clowers, Melissa Dechaud, Austin Landry, Marchelle McConnell, Rebecca Nelson, Dallin Smith and Jennifer Vest.

Melissa Dechaud and Rebecca Nelson have been invited to attend this banquet for four years.

The award winning Gunter High School Choir opened the banquet with two songs. Mr. Rick Cohagan welcomed everyone and L. D. Byrd followed with the invocation. Parents, grandparents and other family members were recognized as each student was being introduced to come and receive the medals.
