Top seniors from around the state of Texas will be representing their schools and communities one last time. Four teams are divided into North and South regions, and will play in classes 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A.
These teams will be coached by outstanding high school coaches who have been selected by the THSBCA board of directors, as well as, two exemplary high school trainers who will also participate in the all star practices and games.
Floyd was nominated by head baseball coach from Whitewright High School, Jim Bob Williams and his letter of selection was received on May15.
Floyd was selected as a pitcher for the North region for classes 1A, 2A and 3A.
Floyd finished his senior year for the Whitewright Tigers undefeated as a pitcher with a record of 10-0.
During his four years at Whitewright he has compiled some very impressive statistics and honors.
In 2002 he was named 13AA Freshman of the Year as he pitched 55 innings with an ERA of 4.554 and 47 strike outs.
In 2003, Floyd was voted 13AA 1st Team Pitcher and 1st Team All-Texoma outfielder. His ERA dropped to 3.107 in 56 innings of work with 69 strike outs and he had a batting average of .438 and 17 stolen bases.
In 2004 he was voted 13AA Most Valuable Player, 1st Team All-Texoma outfielder and Honorable Mention TSWA All-State outfielder. He pitched 66 innings with and ERA of 1.485 with 110 strike outs and only 14 walks. He led the team with 21 stolen bases and 30 runs scored.
In 2005, his senior year, Floyd was voted 15AA Defensive Most Valuable Player and boasted an ERA of 0.835 with 105 strike outs in 58 innings pitched and a 10-0 record.
He batted .477 with a .779 slugging percentage, 33 runs scored and 18 stolen bases.
Floyd has accepted a scholarship from the University of Houston to run track and field and plans to attend fall classes and study pre-med.
