By media release
Jun 24, 2005

On Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26, the cities of Burleson and Fort Worth will be able to celebrate our nation’s wounded heroes and thank them in person as we present to them a celebration of thanks and honor for their sacrifices for us all in a program called, “Wounded Warriors, Fallen Heroes” to take place on Saturday at Spinks Airport in Fort Worth at 7:30 PM and on Sunday at The Church At Burleson in Burleson, Texas at 8:00, 9:45 and 11:30 AM.

Among the Saturday events will be an F-18 fly-over, a Blackhawk and an Apache helicopter fly-over and static display as well as cannon salutes, music, tributes, 30 minutes of fireworks, and fun for the kids and the entire family.

Special speakers for that evening include, Deputy Secretary of Defense, Gordon England, Fred Castleberry, a Viet Nam veteran who became disabled after being hit by a rocket-propelled-grenade, Roger Williams, Secretary of State for the State of Texas, Congresswoman Kay Granger, Pat Summerall, veteran sports announcer, Vicky Field, Advocate for Military Severely Injured Joint Support Operations Center Residing In Texas (Department of Defense), and many more.

Music will be provided by Celena Rae, 2005 American Idol finalist, Allen Asbury, Contemporary Christian Recording artist and The Church At Burleson Music team.

But, our special guests that evening will be the severely wounded soldiers themselves and their families.

It will be incredibly moving and patriotic.

There are over 10,000 wounded soldiers, Marines, Sailors, and Airman in the United States. Many of them are wounded severely, and because of that, their future has been changed forever, simply because they swore to defend us with their lives.  We want to take this weekend, as a community, and pay tribute, honor and give thanks for their life-changing sacrifices.

A mailer will be sent to every address in Burleson (20,000 residents), so that the entire city will have an invitation. The media is welcome and a press conference with Secretary England, the other dignitaries and our special guests will be held during the program on Saturday night.

The event will conclude on Sunday morning at The Church At Burleson with videos, musical tributes, presentations, a flag-folding ceremony, an F-18 fly-over, a cannon salute to the fallen, static military equipment displays, helicopter static displays and fly-bys, a military museum, special guest speakers, and unbelievable special effects and music and much more. This will be a weekend like no other.

It will be an unforgettable program.
