Surrounded by an intimate gathering of friends and family in the picturesque hill country, Laura Amlin of Bonham and Drew Eakins of McKinney were wed March 4, 2006 at the Chapel on the Hill at Mo-Ranch Conference Center of Hunt, TX. The Rev. Nancy Taylor, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Durant, OK, officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Ronnie and Carol Amlin of Bonham. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Amlin of Ector, Ann Stroud of Bonham and the late Harold Stroud. Her great-grandfather is Homer Amlin. She is a graduate of Bonham High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Austin College, and is currently in the graduate program of Texas A&M, Commerce, working towards a Masters of Arts in Bilingual Education. She teaches in a bilingual first grade classroom for Sherman ISD and is Christian Education Coordinator at First Presbyterian Church, Durant.
The groom is son of Jeff and Gigi Eakins of McKinney. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dick Eakins of Winnsboro and Mrs. Barbara Wilson of Mabank. His great-grandmother is Louie Garrett of Mt. Pleasant. He is a graduate of McKinney High School and currently working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Business through the University of Pheonix and is employed by American General in McKinney.
Maid of Honor was Angela Forshee of Dallas. Bridesmaids were Mimi Taylor and Nicole Mittenfelner of Sherman, and Sarah Crittenden of Denver, Co.
Best Man was Cade Bass of Denton, Ricky Graves of College Station, Blake Zaal of Baton Rouge, La., and Jimmy Craig of McKinney.
Ushers were the groom’s brothers, Reid and Cole Eakins of McKinney.
The bride wore a Watters re-embroidered lace sweetheart strapless gown with full trumpet skirt and velveteen ribbon at waist. The bridal party wore chocolate double georgette knee-length dresses with shirred midriff and butterfly sleeves.
Wedding Music was provided by a string trio of Nina Mavrinac, Jacobi Caldwell, and Daniel Prislovsky of San Antonio, TX.
Wedding Coordinators were Courtney Kernek of Denison and Mina Russ of Bonham.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner on Friday night at Elaine’s table in Hunt, TX.
Mr. and Mrs. Chris Nolland, great aunt and uncle of the groom, hosted a tea for the ladies and barbeque for the fellows on the day of the wedding.
A reception was hosted by the bride’s parents in Guest Lodge, of Mo-Ranch. Cody Pruitt of Austin provided wonderful live music. Catering was provided by Cartwheels Catering of Kerrville, TX.
Pre-wedding events included: a Pampered Chef “Pampered Bride” shower in the home of Ann Stroud; a couples’ shower hosted by Jana Assenheimer at the Bent Creek Neighborhood center in Southlake; a shower at the First Presbyterian Church, Bonham hosted by Sharon Hazlewood, Dana Nix, Rachel Tucker, Denise Sanderson; a recipe and spice shower at the First Presbyterian Church, Durant, hosted by the CE committee; a tea and personal shower, hosted by Courtney Kernek and Mina Russ; a bachelorette party in Dallas, hosted by Bridesmaids.
