Where?
How many classes do students take? Students will choose up to three classes from eight different classes being offered. Each class will be 50 minutes long.
Who will teach? Eight of our finest teaches from SISD and a principal:
Sherry Young, Margie Keefer, Suellen Davis, DeeAnn Bullard, Carol Hix, Ludi Vega ,, Jayna Hearn, Michelle Dunn, Melba Avila will serve as principal
How much does it cost? $240 for all three classes, or $80 per class. Students may choose to take only one class, but are encouraged to enroll in all three classes. That means that a student gets 60 hours of instruction for $240. What a deal!
What kinds of classes are offered? Two different art classes-Watercolors, Mural Design; French language, culture, and some cooking; Orchestra; Drama; Poetry; Flag Corps; Dance Movement; Future Problem Solvers; Entomology and Astronomy.
Are there any additional costs? No.
How big are the classes? Enrollment is limited to 15 students, but some classes will offer more due to space considerations: Future Problem Solving class limit is 16, Flag/Dance limit is 12.
Is there a final product? There will be a concert/presentation/show on Thursday evening, June 29.
Who decided to offer this? It was the brainchild of Suellen Davis, the new orchestra teacher for SISD. She has taught similar classes in College Station ISD for many years.
How do I get more information? A brochure is being printed now and will be sent home with students. For more information, contact Melba Avila, who will be serving as principal for the classes. Contact her at mavila@shermanisd.net.
