A group of city and business leaders met recently at the Fort Worth Police and Fire Training Facility to honor a group of fourth, fifth and sixth graders from Fort Worth I.S.D.

The students, who maintained perfect attendance or demonstrated improved attendance throughout the school year, were awarded bicycles, helmets and bike locks.

Sponsors included Park Place Motorcars Fort Worth, Sundance Square, the Fort Worth CATS baseball team, Hawk Electronics, Philanthropy Inc. and Coca Cola of Fort Worth. The program, now in its third year, rewarded students from two-dozen TEAM Fort Worth program schools.

TEAM Fort Worth, a school-based mentoring program, matches students in grades 4-to-8 with caring adults in a one-to-one mentoring relationship. In addition, TEAM Fort Worth provides high school students with career and college exploration opportunities.
