WASHINGTON, June 12, 2007 -- U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency (FSA) Administrator Teresa Lasseter today announced the appointment of David E. Hylle of Cross County to serve on the Arkansas FSA State Committee.
"Mr. Hylle has established a productive farm operation with family roots in eastern Arkansas," said Lasseter. "His skills and understanding of what it takes to be successful will be important assets on the Arkansas FSA State Committee."
As a state committee member, Hylle and his colleagues will provide general direction and supervision of FSA programs.
"His responsibilities include leadership and direction on important community and agricultural issues in the state. We look forward to working with him," Lasseter added.
Committees keep farmers informed of agency program activities while resolving appeals and complaints. Members also maintain cooperative relationships with the agribusiness community.
Hylle is a native and lifelong resident of Wynne, Arkansas, where he graduated from high school. He attended Arkansas State University before returning home to join his family on the farm. He started his own operation 25 years ago, which today includes his wife, three sons and a nephew. Together, they farm 5,800 acres in Cross County, growing rice, soybeans and wheat. They also operate one of the few crawfish farms in Arkansas.
