Thirteen members and two sponsors of the Trenton Jr. Beta Club traveled to the National Jr. Beta Convention in Nashville, Tennessee June 16 – 19 where they competed in both group and individual competitions against other Jr. Betas from schools from Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Florida and Texas.

The Trenton Jr. Beta Club stayed at the beautiful Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee where the convention was being held.  There were over 5000 students, sponsors and parents in attendance at the convention this year.  The theme for the convention was “Grand Ole Beta.”

Nick Frattarelli who had been selected as the Texas Jr. Beta State Secretary at State, won the position of National Jr. Beta Secretary.  The members of the Trenton Jr. Beta Club that attended Nationals:  MacKenzie Murphree, Shelby Warren, Ashley Dykowski, Gaby Galvan, Marla Frazier, Amber Grisham, Kierstin Brown, Chelsea Green, James Wright, Nathan Purcell, Kevin Long and Wade McCroan, worked hard on campaigning for Nick as well as participating in the campaign skit titled ‘Pic Nick’.

While in Nashville, the students had an opportunity to visit the Hard Rock Café, go to the mall, see a movie and just hang out and explore the beautiful Gaylord Opryland Hotel.  They had a great time and learned a lot while attending the convention.

These students did a phenomenal job representing their school and the town of Trenton.  They competed against twelve other states and 67 different schools.  They earned and were rewarded one individual trophy and a National Officer position.  This could have only been achieved through the hard work and dedication of the students and their sponsors Carolyn Lambert and Shannon Meyer.

Those that attended the convention as chaperones were Laura Thedford, Bob Higgs and Tammy Hamrick.

Chelsea Green won 5th place National Honors for her cross-stitch project.
