Caleb O’Rear, FACHE, has been selected as the new Chief Executive Officer for Denton Regional Medical Center in Denton, Texas.  O’Rear, who was the Chief Operating Officer for the 208 bed acute care facility, had been serving as interim Chief Executive Officer for the past three months.

According to James C. Scoggin, Jr., President of HCA North Texas, O’Rear was chosen after a lengthy search.  “Denton Regional Medical Center is an outstanding facility, and there was significant interest by many well qualified candidates from throughout the U.S.,” Scoggin said.  “However,” Scoggin continued, “Caleb has demonstrated great leadership and commitment during his 10 years at Denton Regional Medical Center, and he has dealt very effectively with several important and strategic issues during the time he served as interim CEO.”

Scoggin also pointed out that Dr. Derrell Bulls, Chairman of the DRMC Board of Trustees and Filippo Masciarelli, MD, were an important part of the review process.

According to Dr. Bulls in the review of CEO candidates there was a strong emphasis on a proven ability to work in a collaborative fashion.  “Caleb has shown this as well as other strong leadership traits while with Denton Regional Medical Center,” Bulls said.

“Caleb was born and raised in Denton,” Bulls continued, “and he has grown up with the community.  Denton is now one of the fastest growing counties in the United States and DRMC’s primary and secondary service areas now include nearly a million people.”

"I am looking forward to this new responsibility,” O’Rear said, “because of my commitment to the hospital, the community, and the great people I have an opportunity to work with every day at DRMC.”

O’Rear, who served as Director of Marketing and Associate Administrator at Denton Regional Medical Center prior to his position as Chief Operating Officer, received a B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.

A member of numerous professional and civic organizations, O’Rear serves as a board member of the United Way of Denton County, Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County, and the Special Program for Aging Needs (SPAN).

O’Rear and his wife, Miranda, have one son, Rhett, who will be 1 year old this October.
