The No. 15 Pottsboro Lady Cards polished off the S&S Lady Rams in straight sets to maintain an unblemished district record. Pottsboro is 3-0 in district action and 19-5 on the season.
Pottsboro senior middle blocker Kristy Townsend turned in a well-rounded performance with14 kills, six blocks, six aces and four digs. Reagan Hayes was also a force at the net, finishing with nine kills and seven blocks. Courtni Bauer slammed down seven kills, while Sydney Perry fired five aces through the Lady Ram defense and contributed five kills.
It was a busy night for the Pottsboro setters as well, with Jessica Carson chalking up 21 assists and Ashley Thomas dished off a dozen assists.
Ashlyn Choate and Lynnsie Crews each came up with five digs, Callie Barnett had a pair of blocks, with Heather Haddock and Sara Fisher each contributing a block. Rachel Fetty finished with three digs and two aces.
"We finally did great on passing and receiving," remarked an obviously pleased Pottsboro head coach Sandy Jones following the win. "Our blocking was also really good tonight. I was happy with our play, but we still need to work on closing the 'deal.' We had them down by quite a bit in the first and last game, but could not finish the game. We just kept giving them chances. We are getting mentally tougher, but we still need to learn to keep the intensity up throughout each game until the very end."
Pottsboro will host Howe Friday night. Neither school has a football game, so freshmen and JV will play at 5:00 and varsity will begin when they are finished.
