Farmersville City Council announces new logo design

FARMERSVILLE, TX – The Farmersville City Council announced they have approved a new logo design presented by the Branding Committee at the November 13 meeting. According to Mayor Don Smith, the new logo represents an important first step in creating a new visual identity for Farmersville that will carry the city through the next decade.
“As a small community rich with history, Farmersville is looking toward a future of commercial growth and residential revitalization,” commented Mayor Smith, who is also head of the Branding Committee. “A new identity was necessary to communicate this new direction, and to convey a point of difference between Farmersville and other historical small cities in Texas.”
The goal of the branding committee was to find a new logo that was unique to Farmersville, according to Adah Leah Wolf, Main Street Manager and Branding Committee member. The new logo that has been created conveys the emotional and historic aspects of Farmersville’s personality while reinforcing the tagline “Discover a Texas Treasure.” (The tagline was previously adopted by the City Council in 2006.)
“When you see the new logo, you know exactly where you are," Ms. Wolf commented. “We believe the new logo is a strong visual representation of the town’s heritage of family values and community connections.”
The new Farmersville logo was the result of a rigorous design process that came about through the efforts of Douglas Laube, a Farmersville resident and local business owner. Mr. Laube’s company, Ignition, a Plano-based firm specializing in design and product development, offered their services free of charge to create the logo and new brand identity for the city.
“Logos have to work in many ways: blown up to water tower size to less then half-an-inch on a business card,” said Mr. Cal Merritt, another Branding Committee member. “They have to look good in color, and black and white – and be stand-alone or work with a text byline. Previous designs that the committee reviewed didn’t meet these criteria. The process with Ignition focused on what we liked from several starting ideas and combined them in a fresh new way.”
The Farmersville Economic Development Corp. (4A), the Farmersville Community Development Corp. (4B), the Chamber of Commerce and the city have all agreed to pool available resources for future marketing and branding efforts for the city of Farmersville.
“Our goal in all of this is to bring in new business and tax revenues – and ultimately, to put Farmersville on the map as the best place to live and grow in Collin County,” Mayor Smith said.
