Ector -- The Ector Eagles started fast and then fought off Muenster in the fourth quarter to post a nine-point win Friday night. A balanced scoring attack, centered around the perimeter work of Mason Cox and the play of Dylan Anglin in the paint, allowed the Eagles to improve to 8-6 on the year.
Cox connected on four triples, including three treys in the first period that ended with Ector up, 16-12. Cox led all scorers with 20 points and Anglin was close behind with 19 points.
Ector had a 33-24 lead at the half and the Eagles stretched the margin to 48-35 entering the fourth quarter. Fans of both teams had plenty of exciting action in the final period when the two teams combined to put up 52 points. Muenster trimmed Ector's lead by four points down the stretch, but the Eagles held on to win, 72-63.
In addition to the double-digit performances by Cox and Anglin, Scott Bohannon knocked down nine points, B.J. Kennedy and Brandon Richards each finished with five points, Zakree Thompson and Matt Moncier both had four points apiece, with Gary Richards and Travis Richardson each chipping in three points.
Eric Hellman and Tanner Herr both scored 16 points to lead Muenster, Levi Frutenbach dropped in 11 points, Matt Flusche had nine points, Garrett Walterscheid finished with eight points and Shane Presnall put up three points.
The Ector boys will be back in action December 27 when the Eagles take on Rivercrest in the Leonard Holiday Tournament.
