Each year for the past three, Collin County’s only homeless shelter, The Samaritan Inn, has hosted a party to recognize individuals in the community who have gone ‘above and beyond’ in service to the Inn and its residents. This year, the Third Annual Good Samaritan Awards Gala and Auction will be held on Friday, October 17 at the Embassy Suites in Frisco.

A VIP Sponsor Party was recently held at Rick’s Chophouse on the historic McKinney square to thank the sponsors of this year’s event and to make several special gala announcements.

The Gala’s Title Sponsor is Capital One. Established in 1995, it has become a Fortune 500 company in less than a decade. The financial services company has customers in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.

Ebby Halliday will be the Honorary Chairwoman. Known as the Grand Dame of real estate in the Metroplex, Ebby has been helping families realize dreams of home ownership for over six decades. Fittingly, she partners with The Samaritan Inn to support people as they become independent and establish their own homes in the community.

2008 Good Samaritan Award Winners are: Jane Sparks, Debi Mabrey, Joni McCoy and Monty Miller, who recently gave the Inn’s playroom a colorful ‘extreme makeover’; Dewaine Miller, who regularly assists Inn residents with their job resumes; Nan Riederer, a McKinney Realtor and long-time Inn volunteer; and Peachtree Graphics who assist the Inn with professional printing.

Johnny B, morning man for radio station 97.5 KLAK, will be the Gala Emcee.

The Gala also features a silent auction with 100 quality items.  In addition, four live auction packages include: a trip to New York City for an event-packed weekend; a dream golf trip to Pinehurst Golf Resort; a high-flying day as a fighter pilot; and a gourmet five-course dinner with wine pairing for ten at Rick’s Chophouse in McKinney.

Tickets are now available at $100 per person and may be purchased online at www.thesamaritaninn.org or by calling Deborah Rhodes at 972.542.5302 with credit card number.

Tables for 10 may be hosted for $1200 which includes signage and promotions at the event. Corporate sponsors at several levels are still being sought; for information, call Molly Castillo at 972.542.5302.
