Almost everyone in the crowd could remember exactly where they were standing on September 11, 2001, when word came that foreign terrorists had flown two passenger jets into the World Trade Center Towers.

Seven years later, members of the Fannin County community stood on the courthouse steps to honor the memory of the 2,974 people who perished in the September 11, 2001 attacks, to pay tribute to the courageous first responders who rushed into the towering infernos and to repeat the cornerstone principles that have weathered the trials and tribulations of America's 232-year history.

County officials, city officials, local church leaders, students from Bonham Christian Academy and Forerunner Christian Academy, along with members of the community gathered at noon on Thursday, September 11 to recite Biblical passages and historic quotes from America's founding fathers.
