Denton -- The Bonham Lady Warriors improved to 30-7 on the season and earned a berth in the regional quarterfinals with a three-game win over the Kennedale Lady Kats.

Kennedal jumped out to a 6-2 lead in game one, with junior middle blocker Lauren Woods registering four quick kills.

"We usually pass really well on serve/receive," Bonham head coach Robyn Hill remarked afterwards, "but tonight wasn't one of those nights."

Without that initial accurate pass, sets were more difficult and kills came slowly early in game one.  The Lady Warriors had to find another way gain the momentum.  Kristina Gunn got Bonham's first ace by the Lady Kats, but Kennedale was sailing along with a 13-6 advantage when Kristen Fox reeled off seven consecutive service points to help Bonham pull even.  A kill by Kelsey Hines gave the Lady Warriors their first lead of the night, 15-14, and a pair of aces by Logan Cunningham put Bonham on top, 17-15.  Three kills down the stretch by Gunn, along with kills by Sydney Millhollon, Hines and Rikki Reedy gave Bonham a 26-24 victory in a pivotal game one.

Gunn slammed down five kills in the opener and Hines had three.

In game two, Kelsey Barnes got into the fray with a kill, while Paige Riza chalked up a kill and two aces.  Millhollon gave Bonham a boost with five kills, Gunn unloaded on the Lady Kats with six kills and the Lady Warriors picked up a 25-21 win in the second game.

Gunn was even more effective in game three, as the Bonham senior pounded away at the Kennedale defense with seven kills.  Meanwhile Hines was hammering away from the outside with three kills.  The Lady Warriors dominated game three, 25-11.

Kristina Gunn led all hitters with 18 kills in the three-game match.  Kelsey Hines had seven kills, Rikki Reedy and Sydney Millhollon each slammed down six kills.  Paige Riza and Kelsey Barnes both contributed a pair of kills.  Despite what turned out to be a solid showing by the Lady Warrior hitters, it may very well have been the serves of Kristen Fox, Logan Cunningham, Kayla Irwin, Gunn and Riza that gave Bonham the edge over an athletic squad from Kennedale.

The Kennedale Lady Kats finish the year 27-17.

The Bonham Lady Warriors' 30th win allows them to advance to the regional quarterfinal round to take on the winner of Argyle and Kaufman.
