Liz McCraw named Dean of Enrollment Management; Camille Phelps is new Dean of Students

DURANT, Okla. --  Liz McCraw has been named Dean of Enrollment Management and Camille Phelps Dean of Students at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

University president Michael D. Turner made the announcement Tuesday.

Most recently, McCraw has served as Dean of Students, while Phelps was Assistant Dean of Students.

"Both Dean McCraw and Dean Phelps have the background and experience to provide continued success as they move into these important roles," Turner said. "Over the past several years, they have worked extensively with students, parents, faculty and staff, and the community. We look forward to their many contributions in their new areas of responsibility."

As Dean of Enrollment Management, McCraw will direct the university departments that influence and propel prospective students to enroll at Southeastern and empowers them to remain successful students through graduation.  The enrollment management division will include the Academic Advising and Outreach Center, Freshman Programs, The Center for Native American Excellence, Learning Center, Admissions and Records/Registrar, and Recruiting and Financial Aid.

McCraw earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Southeastern in 1989, and a Master of Administrative Studies at SE in '91.

She began her career  at Southeastern in 1991 as the Student Activities Coordinator, and since that time, has held the following positions -- Student Activities Director, Director of Student Life, Assistant Dean of Students, Associate Dean of Students, and Dean of Students. She has served as Dean of Students since 2001.

"I believe that Southeastern  is truly a special place that affords its students, faculty and staff the opportunity to achieve their dreams and to empower others to do so as well," McCraw said.  " It has truly been my honor to serve as the Dean of Students in the Division for Student Affairs.  Sharon Robinson, Vice President for Student Affairs, has been an important influence on my development as a professional and an educator.

"Dr. Turner's vision for the University's growth is exciting. In my role as Dean of Enrollment Management, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to reach out to potential students and share the stories of Southeastern and the impact it can have on their lives. Southeastern boasts some of the brightest, most talented and motivated students in the country.  We have a qualified and caring staff.  We have excellent faculty who care deeply about our students.  Southeastern  is the perfect place to learn, grow and earn a degree."

As Dean of Students, Phelps will oversee Student Life, the Multicultural Student Office, the Student Activities Office, Freshman Orientation, Student Development, and Student Conduct.

Phelps began her career at Southeastern in 1998 and has served as Multicultural Coordinator,  Director of Student Life, and Assistant Dean of Students.

"I'm thankful for this opportunity and look forward to doing the best job I can for our students, the university and the entire community," Phelps said.

Phelps holds a Bachelor's in political science from Southeastern, a Master of Educational Administration from SE, and a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of North Texas. She is completing  a doctorate in Higher Education Administration at Oral Roberts University.
