McKinney -- Artists and merchants in historic downtown McKinney welcomed residents and visitors December 13 for the city's final Second Saturday of the year.
Downtown McKinney is home to over 100 unique shops, a wide variety of dining opportunities and a thriving art scene. Second Saturday events are an interesting way to spotlight one of the most dynamic downtowns in the state that has managed to hold onto its small-town charm even though McKinney's population has recently surpassed the 125,000 mark.
Art has always been an important facet of Second Saturday and galleries welcome visitors from 7:00-10:00 p.m.

Laura Moore Fine Art Studios featured "Cowboys of the Grand Canyon," hand-printed silver gelatin photographs of Brian J. Magnuson. Mr. Magnuson is a Plano ISD art teacher and this exhibit is the result of four days the photographer spent capturing the images of the men and women that ferry tourists into the Grand Canyon on the backs of sure-footed mules.

Laura Moore Fine Art Studios is located at 129 S. Tennessee in McKinney. For more information, call 214-914-3630 or visit www.lauramooreart.com
On the north side of the McKinney Square, small original paintings from miniature to 8"x10" were on display at Garret's Art Gallery. Artwork by Jodie Baldwin deservedly occupies a prominent spot in the gallery and several other local artist are featured, as well.
