Bonham -- Graveside services with military honors for John Warren “JW” Cartmill, 66, of Bonham, will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 in Dodd City Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home.  JW passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at his residence.

 

JW was born December 12, 1942 in McClain County, Oklahoma, the son of Obie Dalphus Cartmill and Lucille B. Mars Cartmill.  He was a high school graduate and a US Navy veteran.  JW married Barbara Nell Parmer, Sept. 4, 1964.  She preceded him in death, May 8, 2003.  He was a truck driver and lifetime member of the VFW.  JW was a member of the Potawatomi Nation in Oklahoma.  He enjoyed taking care of his grandkids.

Sons:  John Russell Cartmill, Royce Cartmill and James Curtis Cartmill, all of Bonham

Daughters:  Denise Pinkston and Christy Cartmill, both of Bonham

                Carol Cartmill Clark and husband, Robert of Honey Grove

                Rachel Cartmill of Melissa, TX

Mother:  Lucille B. Cartmill of Farmersville

Brothers:  Jerry Cartmill of Farmersville

                Obie Cartmill of Princeton

                Gerald Cartmill of Brookston

                James Cartmill of Flower Mound

Grandchildren:  Brandon Pinkston and Gena Pinkston and Kayla Cartmill, all of Bonham

                Haley Mitchell and Rob Clark of Honey Grove

                Ebony Jones and Brandi Battle of Melissa

A number of nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009.
