Bonham -- Commerce quarterback Bobby Phifer passed for one touchdown and ran for three more to lead the Tigers to a decisive 28-0 win over Bonham Friday night.

Phifer hit rangy wide receiver Tyrone Henry on a slant pattern for six points early in the first period and quickly followed that with a 35-yard TD scamper to boost Commerce to a 14-0 lead after one quarter.  Bonham's defense stiffened in the second stanza and the Tigers took a two touchdown lead into the locker-room.

Phifer hit paydirt in the third period on a nifty 22-yard run to stretch the lead to 21-0.  Bonham got a turnover when good coverage on a punt had Will Moss in perfect position to fall on a fumble when the Commerce return man coughed up the ball.

Except for a pair of nice runs by Robert Williams, Bonham had trouble moving the ball against the tenacious Tiger defense.  Phifer tacked on the last points of the contest with a 40-yard scramble in the fourth quarter.

At halftime Katie Eskue was announced as the 2003 Bonham Football Sweetheart.
