DURANT, Okla. - For the first time since joining the NCAA, the Southeastern Oklahoma State University baseball program boasts a First Team All-American.

Senior first baseman Chad Fox was picked to the 16-man NCAA Division II Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) First Team over the weekend.

Fox, a 6'2", 206-pound native of Cameron, Okla., was picked as the
Rawlings/ABCA NCAA Division II South Central Region Player of the Year last week as he was one of two Savages that earned First-Team All-Regions honors.

Fox led the Savages in nearly every offensive category and hit .421 on the season, ranking him second in the Lone Star Conference. Fox tallied 17 home runs, 22 doubles and three triples while boasting a slugging percentage of .883, tops in the LSC. Fox scored 66 runs, a team-high, and knocked in 65 others. He was picked as LSC North Pre-Season and Post-Season Player of the Year as a senior and was chosen to the LSC All-Tournament Team.

Fox's First-Team selection marked the first such honor for a Savage baseball player since 1998 when Cary Ammons wrapped up his second-straight NAIA First Team All-America season. He becomes the 12th player in SOSU baseball history to be recognized as a First Team All-American and makes the 25th Savage to be honored to an All-America team since records began in 1952.

The Savages ended the 2003 season with a 38-15 record along with a return trip to the NCAA DII Postseason for the first time since 2000. Southeastern finished the regular season as the LSC North runners up but claimed their second-ever LSC Postseason title. Fox was the only First-Team selection out of the Lone Star Conference.
